Although you do not legally require a solicitor to buy a house, it is highly recommended one is used for a number of reasons, including, but not limited to: handling the forms, conducting the searches, liaising with the other parties such as  the mortgage lender and identifying any hidden issues with the purchase. 

There are a variety of documents that are required to successfully complete the conveyancing process. Some of the key documents include: title deeds, energy performance certificates (EPC), transfer deeds, contract of sale, mortgage details and proof of identity.     

Yes, you can use the same solicitor for selling your current property and purchasing a new one.
